Lancaster Conservancy

Since 1969 the Lancaster Conservancy has been working to save important natural places for people and wildlife. As more land is lost each year to development, it’s their mission to protect and maintain carefully selected habitat in its natural state as a balance to our growth.

The Conservancy protects more than 5,000 acres in preserves and 900 acres in conservation easements. Their goals include:

  • Ensure land trust standards and practices are met as an accredited land trust
  • Enhance the conservation values of ecosystems we protect for outdoor recreation, scientific research, and public use.
  • Serve as the external lead for the Susquehanna Riverlands Conservation Landscape guiding strategic decisions in the region.

Nature nurtures us, takes the stress away from our daily lives, and leaves lasting impressions. Each year the Conservancy reaches thousands of people on our preserves — special places that inspire and connect all ages to nature. Whether it is exploring a meadow, taking a hike to meander through a forest or kayaking down a stream, this region and the places we protect offer some of the best opportunities to get outdoors, explore our trails, and learn about the natural landscape.

Lancaster Conservancy is a Foxduck Highlight and will receive a portion of proceeds. Check out our "Giving Back" page to learn more about our Highlights program
