Red Rose City Pullover Hoodie

$58

This design celebrates Lancaster’s rich history and symbolism, blending its transformation, resilience, and ties to the “War of the Roses.” Once known as Hickory Town, the city was renamed by local native John Wright after Lancaster, England, adopting the red rose as its emblem in honor of the House of Lancaster. Its historical significance is rooted in William Penn’s 1681 Penn’s Woods Charter, with a layout designed by James Hamilton in 1734, borough status achieved in 1742, and city status in 1818. The wings in the design symbolize progress, freedom, and the city’s enduring spirit, while the red rose connects Lancaster’s identity to its counterpart, York, in their shared moniker as the “Red Rose City” and “White Rose City”.
